Up close to Janet Jackson – Gold Coast Gig in November
Janet Jackson “singing and dancing from my heart”.
AFTER taking tips from her fans on where her tour should take her, Janet Jackson’s Number Ones: Up Close and Personal Tour is heading to the Gold Coast.
Originally set for only 35 dates across the world, to tie in with the number of songs on her 2009 double-disc release, Number Ones, high demand has resulted in an expanded tour including Australia.
Jackson will perform hits released on Number Ones exclusively, which may see pop favourites That’s The Way Love Goes, The Best Things In Life Are Free or Control performed to an intimate audience on the Gold Coast.
Scream, a duet she released with her late brother Michael in 1995, has featured on the tour in other cities around the world, using backing screens of film footage and stills from their youth in an emotional tribute.
A statement from the artist said her focus for the tour is not special effects, instead the star will be up close and personal with her fans.
“I’ll be singing and dancing from my heart,” she said in the statement.
“This is a love affair between me and those of you who have supported me and my work for all these years.”
Jackson isn’t the first American pop-sensation to choose the Gold Coast’s smaller venue over bigger Brisbane arenas, with Rihanna choosing the intimate setting earlier this year.
American rockers Foo Fighters are also playing north of the border in October.
Jackson’s five-date tour of Australia also includes Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
